Kā Uri, simply meaning to ‘ignite descendancy’ is geographically situated in Awanui (Northland) just north of the main road junction between State Highway 10 and State Highway 1. Kā Uri is owned and operated by Ngāti Kuri and specialises in developing and manufacturing kauri wood products and commissioned high-end kauri products.
It is also home to the New Zealand Māori Arts and Crafts Institute waka construction school – Te Tapuwae o te Waka.
All Kā Uri products are:
- Certified and authenticated, designed and produced onsite at Kā Uri.
- Radio carbon-dated at more than 45,000 years old.
